Write a letter to the editor or your legislator.

Tips for Writing a Good Letter to the Editor:

Letters to the Editor allow you to voice concern or praise about issues facing your community.  They can inform, influence public opinion, educate readers and ask for action.

It is very important that letters are concise and the message is clear and easy to understand.

  • If possible, refer to past articles or editorials in the paper. Quoting a source is a good way to back up your statement. Always make sure that someone who did not read the story you are referring to would understand what you are talking about.
  • Make sure your statements are accurate.
  • Check spelling and grammar.
  • Include your Full Name, Address and Daytime Phone Number for verification
